This is a big decision. The video capabilities for both are the deciding issue.
iTunes has easy to download TV shows however many friends of mine had problems with storing movies. The Gigabeat has no rule service to purchase TV shows and relys highly on Windows. Right now I'm leaning toward the Gigabeat mainly because of it's easy drag and drop video type syncing.
However I really do love the idea of carrying a few TV shows to and from work.

Since video option is a big deal for you. You should go with the iPod. The ipod has a bigger screen, better design, much thinner, iTunes service, easy management from iTunes and a responsive scroll wheel. This is speaking as an iPod owner.
