So I see that Apple is launching an iPod HiFi with great sound – nice.


But isn’t this more about showing off the fantastic new Intel Chips than a huge leap forward for audio science?

Most of us are very content with our iPods, others who are more into the whole sound thing will have a decent Bose and the really psycho ‘gotta have it’ crew will have car/house filling stuff, whatever I, you or logic tells them.


What I’d have really liked would have been a development more along the lines of Wi-Fi functionality. That would have twisted my melons, man. Getting the whole gang in one, that would be cool – automatic iTunes, more downloadable music, perhaps Web & IM, chat or e-mail. Of course we are talking about the desirability of a WiFi iPod with some Web capability. And maybe even an Apple IM client, which is way overdue.


Ah, but we’re talking about some smart cookies and you know there’s more to come……… Cupertino?
